First Things First
In Canada, it is illegal to damage, destroy, disturb or remove migratory bird nests if they contain a live bird or egg according to Canada’s Migratory Birds Convention Act. Please be respectful of all nests, eggs, and nesting adults in Canada. Be sure to check your provincial regulations as well regarding disturbing nesting birds.

Birds Canada runs an amazing program called Project Nest Watch. This program allows scientists and citizen science volunteers to submit observations of nests to help monitor bird distribution, bird health and changes to the breeding populations, and better understand the timing of nesting in areas across Canada.
In addition to Project Nest Watch, other community science programs focused on birds (and other things) could use your help. Record your bird observations on eBird (a central repository for all bird sightings in the world and an amazing resource for anyone interested in birds and the broader scientific community). Another program called iNaturalist can also be used to record your bird observations.
We will be updating this Website until we accumulate egg photos of all avian species that regularly breed in Canada. If you have a collection with eggs of a species we are missing, we would love to hear about it. Please use the Contact Us page to get in touch.
If you are interested in the raw format pictures, they are available. Please contact us if you would like to request these photos.
